Victorian Era ONYX AND DIAMOND STAR LOCKET19th century era black onyx and diamond locket, with gold details. The onyx has been carved to form the locket with a hinged glass panel on the verso. Topped with an old mine cut and rose cut diamond star. English in origin. Circa 1870. Celestial jewels were quite popular in the late 19th century. It coincided with a fascination with many astronomical discoveries of the period. Measures 2" in drop length and 1. 25" in width. Chain sold separately.
